The SACLA XFEL challenge: Observing living cells

SACLA was completed in 2011, only the second XFEL facility in the world after the one established in the U.S. Various initiatives are now underway to use this new form of light for basic research and for industrial use. The method of observing living cells using this new light is the first development of its kind in the world.
