Restoration Technology is a series which introduces the processes and technologies used in reconstructing or restoring lost treasures and artifacts. This particular program focuses on the restoration of The Water Magician, an early masterpiece by the great Japanese movie director Kenji Mizoguchi. Originally made in 1933, the few negatives that existed were badly worn, and some scenes were missing. The program follows a group of experts in both analog and digital technology who were commissioned to create a version as faithful as possible to the original.
